VAUGHAN, Saturday, May 2nd, 2009 -- The U13 Boys Regional Teams are competing at the Ontario Soccer Centre in Vaughan this weekend. The series of friendly games give Ontario Regional Coaches an opportunity to compare player development program notes and evaluate the new players trying out for the Ontario Provincial Team.(More...)

TORONTO, ON – Nominated by the Hall Of Fame Board, Bill Hoyle was presented the June Callwood Outstanding Achievement Award for Voluntarism in Ontario at a gala ceremony in Toronto on April 24th, 2009. The Award is a well-deserved recognition of Bill’s 50+ years of volunteer involvement with The Ontario Soccer Association and his 20 years of operating the Soccer Hall of Fame & Museum since founding it in 1988.(More...)

Ontario's Patrick Tobo Named Assistant Coach To Canada's U17 World Cup Team

VAUGHAN, ON -- Canada's Men's U-17 Team has announced that Patrick Tobo, Ontario Region 4 Coach and Ontario U15 Boys Coach, will be Assistant Coach in its FIFA U-17 World Cup Nigeria 2009 campaign. The team will head to Tijuana, Mexico this Sunday to take part in the CONCACAF qualification tournament which runs from April 21st to May 2nd. (More...)



Canada Announces U-17 Roster For CONCACAF Tournament

OTTAWA, ON -- Canada's men's U-17 team has announced its final roster for the upcoming 2009 CONCACAF Men's U-17 Championship. The roster includes 8 graduates of the Ontario Soccer Association's Player Development Program as well as Assistant Coach Patrick Tobo, Ontario Region 4 Coach and Ontario U15 Boys Coach. The team will head to Tijuana, Mexico this Sunday to take part in the confederation qualification tournament for the FIFA U-17 World Cup Nigeria 2009. Ontario Teams In Final Preparation For March Break Trips

VAUGHAN, ON – Ontario’s U14, U15 and U16 Boys and Girls Teams are in final preparations for their upcoming training and exhibition game trips over March Break. The trips form an integral part of the OSA’s Player Development Program and are a key component in preparing Ontario U14 and U16 Teams for the annual National All-Star Championships in July. 2009 Ontario Indoor Cup Finishes with Four More Champions

VAUGHAN, ON -- The Ontario Indoor Cup wrapped up this weekend, February 28-March 1, with Finals in the Under 14 and Under 16 Boys and Girls Divisions at the Soccer Centre in Vaughan. After a great set of games in the round robin on the Saturday, teams were primed and ready to take their chances at the Ontario Indoor title with Semi-Finals and Finals on Sunday. Erin Mills Soccer Club was very well represented this weekend, and had seven teams competing in the four divisions. Of those seven teams, six continued on to Cup Finals, and the Under 14 Girls and the Under 16 Boys divisions both featured an all Erin Mills Final. (More...)

The OSA Saddened By Passing Of Joe "K"

SCARBOROUGH, ON --
The Ontario Soccer Community mourns a dear friend today, as Joe Kneschewitsch passed away peacefully at home yesterday after a lengthy battle with cancer. Joe was a volunteer and organizer for the Ontario Cup and Nationals, a coach and committee member of the club Cedarbrae, now known as the Scarborough Blizzard Soccer Club, and a referee with the Scarborough Soccer Referees Association. Ontario Futsal Cup Produces Provincial Champions

VAUGHAN, ON - The Ontario Futsal Cup was played this past weekend, with divisions split between the HoopDome in Toronto, and RIM Park in Waterloo. Snow and wind would not dampen the teams' spirits as they set their sights on the Provincial Championship. (More...)

Fun For All at First Ever Family Day Tournament

The Ontario Soccer Association held it's first ever Family Day tournament this past Monday at BMO Field, and it was a tournament in the spirit of the holiday. The Family Day Charity Scramble was a fun-filled event, with a unique format and a prize that promoted community and family values. (More...)

Indoor Cup Champions Crowned

VAUGHAN, ON --This past weekend, four Ontario Indoor Cups were awarded to the Under 15 Boys, Under 15 Girls, Under 17 Boys and Under 17 Girls champions. On Valentine's Day, eight teams in each division participated in round robin tournaments to determine the top two teams in each group that would advance to the Semi-Finals on Sunday, February 15th. The Ontario Indoor Cup will conclude on February 28 and March 1, 2009 with the Under 14 and Under 16 divisions. (More....)

VAUGHAN, ON -- Eight current National Training Centre Ontario (NTCO) and former Team Ontario members have been awarded full athletic scholarships at universities in the United States. Kayla Afonso, Tiffany Cameron, Bryanna McCarthy, Alyscha Mottershead, Caroline Szwed, Angelika Uremovich, Rachel Wannek and Lacey Warner join the growing list of Team Ontario and NTCO members who have won scholarships at US universities in recent years. William (Bill) Hoyle Hangs Up His Boots

VAUGHAN, ON -- Long-time soccer executive William Hoyle is hanging up his boots. Founding Chairman of The Soccer Hall of Fame & Museum since 1997 and President of The Ontario Soccer Association (OSA) from 1979 to 1986, Bill has been dedicated to the promotion, development and history of soccer in Ontario and Canada for over 50 years. Bill leaves behind an impressive array of achievements, amongst which is his leading role in the establishment and development of The Soccer Hall of Fame & Museum in Vaughan. (More...)
