Long-Term Player Development Online

With LTPD as the guide, the OSA Coaching Department has launched new online resources for coaches working at all levels of the game in Ontario.

Under CSA leadership, LTPD can provide the framework for high-quality programs that ensure enjoyable lifelong playing opportunities for players of all levels of ability, as well as development pathways for elite players who pursue excellence.

As it is implemented, LTPD will have a broad influence on soccer across Canada. It will positively impact Coaching Education Programs at all levels of our game and unite Coaching Educators nation-wide.

SIRC -- Provincial Program Injury Report

VAUGHAN, ON -- Using the “Injury Tracker” program since 1996 to log injuries reported to the Sports Centres data collection department, a summary of the injuries reported from September 2007 to 2008 is attached below. The data collected represents injuries during training/games/travel with the OSA Provincial High Performance Development Program as they occurred and as recorded using our standardized daily logging process by our therapists and doctors. The OSA & Chile Demonstrate Value Of True Sportsmanship

Vaughan, ON – When Ontario’s U14 Teams first travelled to winter training camp in Chile back in 2006, they were warmly welcomed by their Chilean counterparts in a spirit of friendship and cooperation not uncommon in the world of competitive soccer (football, fussball, futbol).

“As a CONCACAF member, our relationship with countries in the Western Hemisphere -- and South America in particular -- is critically important to the development of the game and our players here in Canada,” says Jim Cannovan, The OSA Director Technical and a firm advocate of mixing with and building upon the rich pool of talent and experience extant among our southern neighbours. Play Soccer Coaching Skills Filming at the Soccer Centre

The OSA Coaching Department has partnered with Everton FC & GOL TV to produce the made for television program entitled “Play Soccer Coaching Skills – by the Everton Way”. The program, which is being filmed October 16-18 at the Soccer Centre, is part of the OSA Coaching Department’s ongoing efforts to promote & enhance grass roots coaching education and ties in nicely with the recent release of the EvertonWay.Com coaching and player development online video.

Starring Everton’s Tosh Farrell and Phil Hewitt working with OSA players, the show, jointly scripted by Jim Cannovan and Tosh Farrell, focuses on coaching 10-16 year olds. OSA Technical staff has been integrated with GOL TV Staff on production of this exciting new video coaching program.

Coaching Certification Database

The OSA Coaching Department maintains the first & largest soccer specific coaching database of its kind in Canada. It is updated & maintained on an ongoing basis. Districts & Clubs have full access to coaching certification records of their respective memberships. Leagues also have access to certification pertaining to their registrants. Districts, Clubs, & Leagues continue to access this information via ITSoccerNet.

Individual certification inquiries & checks should be directed to your Club or District Association.

The Coaches Association of Canada still maintains their own unique database. To access individual NCCP records, please direct your question to the Coaches Associaiton of Canada or perform an on-line certification check at www.coach.ca
