VAUGHAN, ON -- Canada's women's U-17 team has wrapped final preparations at the National Training Centre Ontario (NTCO) in Vaughan and departs Saturday, July 12th, for the inaugural CONCACAF Women's Under-17 Championship in Trinidad & Tobago.

Coach Bryan Rosenfeld selected 20 players for this leg of the campaign.

Canada is one of eight teams participating in the CONCACAF Women's Under-17 Championship. The tournament runs from the 17th to 26th of July. The top three teams in the tournament advance to the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup New Zealand 2008 which runs from October 28th to November 16th.

Team Canada made its home at Humber College throughout the camp and trained every day from July 1st through the 11th. The squad also played in two exhibition matches, one against WSC U-15 boys on July 8th and another against the Erin Mills U-15 boys on July 11th.

An inspirational highlight for the entire team was to see Canada's Women's Team battle Brazil to a 1-1 draw at BMO Field on Thursday, July 10th, in their warm-up for the Beijing Olympics later in August.

Canada has one of the best women's programs in the world. Earlier this year, the national team qualified for the Women's Olympic Football Tournament for the first time in Association history.

The U-20 team qualified for the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup Chile 2008.

The U-17 team, whose title sponsor is BMO Financial Group, hopes to complete this impressive 2008 picture by finishing in the top three at the CONCACAF Women's Under-17 Championship and qualifying for the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup New Zealand 2008.
